C.C.D.A.
Senior Dancers Perform at World's AIDS Day Concert - Mississauga
- December 1, 2005
C.C.D.A.
dancers were honoured when they were selected to perform with
many top Canadian artists, performers and celebrities at the World's
AIDS Day Concert at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre on December
1, 2005.
The
concert, a musical production in recognition of Worlds AIDS Day,
raised money for the Peel HIV/AIDS Network, hosted by Entertainment
Tonight Canada's Cheryl Hickey and Canadian Idol judge Farley
Flex.
Show
Executive Producer, Anthony Sherwood and his selection committee
were extremely impressed with the choreography, professionalism
and strong technique of the C.C.D.A. dancers requesting one routine
in particular, called "Web of Dreams" - one of many
C.C.D.A.'s routines that were successful at winning several 1st
place, overalls high score, special adjudication and choreography
awards at various competitions last year. In addition, the dancers
performed a newly choreographed Hip Hop number put together by
C.C.D.A.'s renowned Hip Hop instructor Danny Davalos.

"The
committee had high standards as to which performers were selected
to be a part of this special event", says, Cynthia Helmer,
C.C.D.A. Director/Choreographer. "When I was given the news
that I was selected to have my students perform, I was quite excited."
The
dancers experienced a bit of the royal treatment upon arrival
at the theatre as they were escorted to their dressing rooms and
provided catered food and beverages. Just before show time, all
performers were asked to walk along the red carpet, where various
local TV crews stood by for brief interviews with each performer.
I'm
really proud of my students," says Cynthia. "They've
done extremely well over the years at competitions winning many
awards, but also earning other performing opportunities at various
events throughout the GTA and it's an honour to see my dancers
have the opportunity to perform at events such as these."
